Emotional hardiness and resilience as predictors of job search success

Emotional hardiness and resilience as predictors of job search success.

I participated in a career ministry session on Monday night. The topic was LinkedIn and Social Media for job search (www.can-b.net). Phyllis Neil of WeMentor spoke to us about personal branding through social media.  Two recruiters, Scott and Kristie, shared their expertise as well.

I reviewed the evaluations from the session and one gave me pause.

Question: What did you like best about the session?
Respondent: That no one went on and on about how horrible their life was.

Similarly, I talked with a career transition client today. She was in great spirits, job loss and all. She said, "A friend of mine said she stayed in bed under the covers for weeks when she lost her job. I told myself I was not going to do that."

I firmly believe that an emotionally hardy individual will go through the job search process more smoothly.
